Black Mask and Up Against The Wall Motherfucker

Black Mask and Up Against The Wall Motherfuckers are now almost forgotten radical, almost neo-Dadaist and pro-Situ, groups from the American 1960s radical counter culture. It is 50 years since Black Mask were formed. The group included Ben Morea and was associated with many others including Valerie Solanas, who shot Andy Warhol. They were an influence on later groups such as the Yippies and Weather Underground, as well as many others in a rich radical / (anti)art tradition that stretches back to pre-Dada through to the present. I certainly always found them more interesting, innovative and influential than anything the more mainstream hippy movement could offer.
